Arrrr Adult Mateys

Adult Program Client and Kim

Ahoy there! Easter Seals Greater Houston's Adult Program recently celebrated International Talk Like a Pirate Day. It was more than just a good time with our mateys, our Adult Program participants also learned about different types of speech and ways to communicate, how to use person-first terminology, address individuals directly, and be aware as well as advocate for those with disabilities.

Aye! And how could we not embrace the viral Jack Sparrow run while getting some exercise?

Clients involved in the Easter Seals Greater Houston's Adult Program are adults who have experienced barriers to social integration and opportunities due to the perception of their disabilities. Our Adult Program provides a safe environment for adults to socialize with one another and participate in activities enjoyed by all adults. We strive to broaden their experiences and introduce them to new things. The Adult Day Program has two age groups that meet up for activities and community outings weekly.

If any land lubbers would like to join our crew, please contact our captain Adult Program Coordinator Kim at adult@eastersealshouston.org. We promise we won’t make you walk the plank!

This program is made possible by our generous donors, CVS Foundation, Isla Carroll Turner Friendship Trust, and Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church.
