Precious Time
Because children learn and grow at different rates, even the most attentive parents can miss important milestones. This realization can be stressful for parents and caregivers, but this is when our Infant Program experts step in. Read this mother's testimony about how Early Childhood Intervention helped Cadence reach her developmental milestones.
"I want to thank ECI (Early Childhood Intervention) for all of the support and encouragement they’ve been able to provide my daughter Cadence. My husband and I always suspected that something wasn’t quite right with Cadence’s development. When her pediatrician revealed that she agreed, we felt like we’d wasted precious time that could have been spent getting her help. As a result, I began my communication with ECI with a level of anxiety, impatience, guilt, and fear that the process would take too long to stand up in a meaningful and impactful way. The actual experience was the complete opposite.
From day one, I felt like everyone treated us as a priority and wanted to confirm the type and frequency of services necessary as quickly as possible. We began with one set of services based on Cadence’s needs as a smaller infant, and over time, the ECI team was able to tweak and adjust based on her progress as well as the natural changes that came with her getting older. When I look back, we went from having an infant that had absolutely no interest in pulling up, crawling, or really any physical motion to now having a wild child that delights in giving us mild heart attacks on a daily basis. We went from having an infant whose delayed motor skills would frustrate her beyond belief to a toddler who is now more willing to accept that with practice comes better execution. We went from a slightly older infant that could only engage in very basic baby babbling to now having a toddler that is communicating to us using 2-4 word phrases.
All of her progress is a direct result of the ECI services we received with Tanya as her physical therapist, Andrea as her teacher, and Emily as her speech therapist. These three ladies have been some of the most crucial individuals in Cadence’s life, and for that, my family is extremely grateful. It is one thing for a provider to simply come in, do their job, and leave. It is another when that provider shows up with compassion, patience, a true willingness to share their expert knowledge, and a genuine interest in seeing your child succeed. I will admit that neither I nor Cadence (especially Cadence) have always been the easiest to work with, but through it all I can honestly say that I consider these ladies to be like family. We have been able to develop close relationships and I know they have my child’s best interest at the forefront of every action they take. Thank you so much, Tanya, Andrea, Emily, and the rest of the ECI team, who made this all possible!" -Cadence's Mom
