A Solid Foundation To Grow!

RJ in front of a Mickey Mouse themed balloon arch. The purpose of early intervention is to help children with developmental delays and disabilities meet the developmental milestones we typically expect to see in the first three years. Easter Seals Greater Houston's Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) Program* focuses on building a strong foundation for children by working with families to address their specific needs. We work with families in the home and in the community, helping parents and caregivers learn how to support their children as they grow.

One client from our Brazos Valley Outreach, RJ, and his family started ECI in April and have been working on mobility and balance.

"When he began services, he was not able to move his left arm or hand much at all. He was also unable to stand on his own and could not position his feet in a straight position to support standing. He has been receiving PT and SST [Specialized Skills Training] infant massage and is now standing, holding his feet straight, and using both arms and hands equally. RJ’s pediatrician was also very impressed with his progress at his one-year-old well child check up! We are so grateful for ECI’s help!"
